Brian Olson died in 1999 from colorectal cancer at age 39 - his friends joined together to start a golf tournament in his memory, which is now in its 20th year. Together, the 100 golfers who play and donate every year have raised $500,000 for cancer care at St. Luke’s Cancer Institute, making it one of St. Luke's largest community-managed fundraisers. Proceeds from past tournaments paid for 25,000 free at-home colon cancer screening kits. In addition, funds from the tournament help pay for colonoscopies for people who otherwise could not afford one.
