Our 2025 Luke Award Honoree, Dr. Jerry Hirschfeld!
The 2025 Luke Award is proud to recognize Dr. Jerry Hirschfeld for his outstanding contributions to St. Luke’s Children’s and children’s services.
Dr. Jerry Hirschfeld dedicated his career to advocating for children and families, earning him the distinguished title of “Idaho’s Pediatrician” by his peers. With more than three decades of service at St. Luke’s, including 10 years as the administrator to St. Luke’s Children’s, he played a pivotal role in shaping the future of pediatric care in Idaho.
Long before his name graced the doors of the hospital, Dr. Hirschfeld was a dedicated, hands-on pediatrician—making morning and evening rounds, conducting thorough exams, and ensuring every child received the best possible care. Colleagues recall his unwavering commitment, his deep concern for his patients’ well-being, and the way he challenged them to become better clinicians.
Beyond his work in the hospital, Dr. Hirschfeld mentored new physicians, championed children's health policies at the Idaho State Capitol, and had a vision for what would become today’s St. Luke’s Children’s Hospital. His determination, commitment, and perseverance turned that vision into reality, forever changing pediatric care in Idaho.
