Dan Krahn
Dan Krahn has been a valued leader in business, healthcare, and the southwest Idaho community for more than 40 years. He gives intentionally and generously, and quietly inspires others to support their local communities in ways that are most meaningful to them. Dan began serving on McCall & Cascade Hospital boards in his late twenties, and has since helped lead the transformation of healthcare facilities and services in our region to improve access and expand services by sharing his time and talent as a member of the St. Luke's Health System Board.
Not only does he continue to give back to the healthcare community, Dan maintains an active role with his alma mater, The University of Idaho, by fundraising for their athletics programs and attending football and basketball games whenever possible. He and his wife Nancy own Krahn’s Home Furnishings – a third-generation family business in downtown McCall. Krahn's Home Furnishings has been an integral team player in supporting local and regional programs, projects and community improvement efforts.
Whether he's helping identify funding to provide bike helmets for kids in need, single-handedly coordinating excess food supply donations for schools and food banks during a global pandemic or opening his home to exchange students through the Rotary Club, Dan is seen as a trusted and valued member of each organization and community that he supports -- always offering gentle guidance, thoughtful feedback and meaningful contributions. His gift of giving back is perpetual as he encourages others to see the Light of Philanthropy within themselves.
We are so very fortunate to have Dan as part of our own St. Luke's volunteer family, and are thrilled to honor his contributions as this year’s Ralph J. Comstock, Jr. Light of Philanthropy Award recipient.
